In 1609, the riksdaler rose to a value of 6 mark when the other Swedish coins were debased but the riksdaler remained constant. From 1624, daler were issued in copper as well as silver. Because of the low value of copper, large plate money (plåtmynt) was issued. These were rectangular pieces of copper weighing, in some cases, several kilograms.

In Reference to the drawing that Jeffrey911 posted, I have quite a few different images of the manufacture of plate money. Many differend kinds of plate money exist, for example the corner stamps are different in this 1675 2 daler. Quite a bad example as this is not a usual coin, this is a 2 daler plate minted in Pajala, Finland, 1675, found in 1903 with 9 other plate money. 4 of those were unique back then and this is the only one that is still unique. Having owned exactly one piece of Swedish plate money ever (and that a sea-salvaged 1750 4-daler piece from the Nicobar shipwreck), I can say that I see no obvious red flags here as far as authenticity goes, but take my limited experience with a grain of salt. I shall defer to those with wider and/or more specialized experience on these. Obviously they copied the format of the Swedish plate money introduced in 1702.
